Office of Special Services & Equity

Welcome to the Office of Special Services and Equity!

The Office of Special Services and Equity (OSSE) supports students with IEPS,504 Plans, and exceptional needs. The department offers a continuum of supports and services to individuals ages birth to 26. Supports and programs consist of:

* Resource Program
* Early On
*Audiology

*Speech Language Pathology
*School Psychologist
*Occupational Therapy
*School Social Work

In accordance with Michigan and federal laws, a student who meets the eligibility requirements for special education has the right to participate in the general curriculum in the least restrictive environment (LRE). The program of support and services is described within the student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP). Providing a free appropriate public education (FAPE) for a student with a disability begins with the consideration of services in the LRE.The delivery of special education services are developed to accommodate the student’s special needs of eligibility without removing the student, unnecessarily, from the general curriculum or setting. Supplementary aids and services received by the student are determined on an indivudualized need. Here in Ecorse Public School District we promote inclusive opportunities for all students.
