DOMINICAN INDEPENDENCE DAY!

Dominican Independence Day, celebrated on February 27th, marks the Dominican Republic’s victory in gaining independence from Haiti in 1844. This day is a vibrant celebration of Dominican heritage, culture, and national pride, filled with music, dance, and traditional foods.

At our school, we recognize this important day because of our large population of Dominican students, whose culture and contributions enrich our community. By acknowledging Dominican Independence Day, we honor their history, create a sense of belonging, and celebrate the diversity that makes our school special. Through activities, lessons, and cultural appreciation, we strive to make all students feel seen and valued.

Thank you Mrs. Bazzi & Mrs. Iglesias for all that you do for the Latin American community and students here at Ecorse High School.
